Once the humble family vegetable garden, Inventive Smart Vegetable Farm is today a two acres working farm
with varieties of vegetables. When Dr. Qin was back from his computer engineer / scientist career for
over 20 years, first he turned to the vegetable garden for technology experiment reasons.
But with the rising cost of vegetables in Canada, Qin, turned this family
vegetable patch into a thriving computer automation growing vegetables produce business.
Statistically more than 80 percent of the local vegetable supply is grown outside the country,
and the prices of vegetables are rising (Reference: Fresh vegetable prices rising, with B.C. leading country,
By Lisa Johnson, CBC News Posted: Oct 29, 2015 and Annual Canadian food price forecast by Prof.
Sylvain Charlebois of the University of Guelph).
Inventive Smart Vegetable Farm was created to meet the growing needs of a community that shares these
same views and is concerned about what they eat and feed their children.
This is a community that is tired of tomatoes bought at the local grocery store.
When more than likely the fres tomatoes were picked while still unripe, shipped 3,000 miles
over several days/weeks, and then artificially "ripened" using ethylene gas, thus robbing it of
practically all of its nutritional value. Buying from Inventive Smart Vegetable Farm ensures that
its members buy locally and creates jobs that support the local market.
Inventive Smart Vegetable Farm mission is to raise the best tasting and finest quality fruits and
vegetables for the local community and to implement and extend best computer automation technology in the
vegetable farm. Inventive Smart Vegetable Farm uses only natural and sustainable farming methods.
Natural foods and natural farming with computerized methods leaves a smaller carbon footprint
while simultaneously improves the health of its customers and its local community.
Inventive Smart Vegetable Farm is a Community Supported Agriculture Business entity.
Community Supported Agriculture is both a marketing strategy and a philosophy.
The farmers sell shares (subscriptions) in the next season produce, usually before the season begins.
Each week of the season, the member receives a share of produce from the farm.
In some cases the members are involved in decision-making of all aspects of the
operation; in others the farmer makes all the decisions. Each Community Supported Agriculture
is as unique to the farmer and the community it serves. Members may pick up their boxes at the farm,
at delivery sites, or home delivery may be offered.
Inventive Smart Vegetable Farm is located at Hinchinbrooke, Quebec.
